How ranking works

This page explains the main parameters that decide in which order things are shown on HomeHero (Platform-to-Business Regulation Art. 5; Consumer Rights Directive Art. 6a). Nobody can pay for a better position: there are no sponsored listings, and fees, Premium or advertising never change the order.

Tasks (Explore tasks)

Only open tasks are listed. You choose the order:

Newest (default): most recently posted first.
Highest price / Lowest price: by the customer's budget; tasks without a budget come last, then newest first.
Nearest: by straight-line distance from the location you entered (or your profile town) to the task's approximate public location.

Filters (category, one-off or recurring, budget, distance, keywords) only include or exclude tasks; they don't change the order.

Heroes and services (Find a Hero)

We show active services of Heroes whose own service area covers the location you searched. Order:

Distance (default when we know your location): nearest service area first; equal distances by average rating.
Rating (default otherwise): highest average star rating first, then the number of ratings. Heroes without reviews show “New”.
Price: lowest price first.

Main parameters and their relative importance: the sort you choose comes first; ties are broken by average rating, then number of ratings. Suspended accounts and inactive services are never shown. The list only appears once at least 3 Heroes are available, so a young marketplace never looks emptier than it is.

Offers on your task

If you posted a task, Heroes with a current offer are shown first, lowest price first. Heroes you only exchanged messages with follow, most recent activity first. Withdrawn offers without messages are hidden. Ratings, badges and completion rates are shown next to each offer to help you compare, but don't change the order.

Task alerts

New tasks are sent to every Hero whose alert settings match (categories, distance, minimum budget, quiet hours) — all matching Heroes are alerted at the same time; nobody gets earlier access for a fee.

What doesn't affect ranking

Payments or fees to HomeHero, and HomeHero Premium (our own service, always shown separately and labelled).
Verification badges, licences and profile completeness (shown, not ranked).
Your personal data beyond the location you search with: we don't personalise the order based on your behaviour.
