How the marketplace works

Last updated: 31 October 2026

HomeHero's role

HomeHero is an online marketplace run by Global Managed Properties Ltd. Customers post tasks or book services; independent Heroes send offers. When you accept an offer or book a service, the contract for the job is between you and the Hero. HomeHero is not a party to that contract, doesn't employ Heroes and doesn't direct how they work.

HomeHero does: take the payment and hold it until you approve the job (or the 7-day approval period ends), apply our cancellation and refund rules, run damage protection and dispute handling, and moderate content. Our service fee is shown before you pay.

Professional (trader) or private Hero

Every Hero declares whether they offer services as a professional (trader) — as their trade, business or profession — or as a private individual. We show this on their profile and before you book. It's their own declaration; we check the business details of traders with reasonable efforts (registration and VAT numbers, identity check), but we can't guarantee them.

For professionals we show their legal name, trading name, registration and VAT number and town; you get their full address, email and phone number once you've booked them. Before a Hero can send offers, they must give us these details and confirm they only offer services that comply with EU and Maltese law.

Your consumer rights

  • Booking a professional: EU consumer law applies to your contract with the Hero — including the right to clear pre-contract information and the 14-day right of withdrawal for services. If you ask for the job to be done within those 14 days, you must pay for the part already done if you withdraw, and the right ends once the job is fully done. The professional is responsible for these rights.
  • Booking a private individual: EU consumer law (such as the right of withdrawal) doesn't apply between private individuals. Ordinary Maltese contract law does.
  • Always: HomeHero's own rules — payment held until you approve, cancellation and refunds, damage protection and our support team.

Your statutory rights are never limited by our rules. For a dispute you can use our support, the Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority (MCCAA), or the courts.

HomeHero Premium

Premium packages are sold and delivered by Global Managed Properties Ltd itself (by our own staff or contractors), not by marketplace Heroes. For Premium, the contract is with us and we're responsible for your consumer rights. Premium is always labelled and shown separately from Heroes' offers; it never changes how Heroes are ranked.

For Heroes (business users)

The Terms that apply to Heroes, the fees, how ranking works and our moderation rules are public. We give at least 15 days' notice before changing the Terms for Heroes (longer where the change needs bigger adjustments). If we restrict or suspend a Hero, we explain why in writing and you can ask for a review (reports & moderation). Complaints about HomeHero itself: contact support.
