How do verification and badges work?

Verification helps customers choose with confidence and helps Heroes stand out.

Checks every user goes through

• Email confirmation when you sign up with email.
• Identity verification by Stripe for Heroes who set up payouts.

Documents for Heroes

In Documents & verification Heroes can upload:

• proof of liability insurance
• trade authorisations, such as an electrician or plumbing licence

How the review works

HomeHero's team checks each document. When it's approved, a badge appears on your profile:

• Insurance verified
• Authorised

Your documents stay private

Other users only see the badge. The documents themselves are never shown to customers or other Heroes.

Expiry

Keep your documents up to date. When a document expires, the badge is removed until you upload a valid version.

For customers

Badges are a quick way to see who has been checked. For electrical, gas and plumbing work, always choose a Hero with the Authorised badge where the law requires it. See Authorised trades.
