Extra work: when the job turns out bigger

Your Hero can ask you to approve and pay for extra work through HomeHero — never in cash.

Sometimes a job turns out bigger than expected: an extra room, a part that needs replacing, a second coat of paint. On HomeHero, extra work is added to the booking and paid the same safe way.

For customers

  • Your Hero sends a request on the booking with a description and a price. You get a notification and an email.
  • Open the booking and choose Approve & pay or Decline. Nothing is charged until you approve.
  • The extra work has the normal service fee and is paid by card through Stripe.
  • The money is held by HomeHero and released to your Hero together with the booking when you approve the finished job.
  • If the booking is cancelled or refunded in full, paid extra work is refunded too. Requests you haven't paid are cancelled.

Only approve extra work you've actually agreed with your Hero. If you're unsure, ask in the chat first.

For Heroes

  • On a paid booking that isn't finished, open the booking and choose Request extra work.
  • Describe the work and enter the price (between €5 and €10,000). You see what the customer pays and what you get after the HomeHero fee.
  • Wait until the customer has paid before you start the extra work. You can withdraw a request until it's paid.
  • Up to 5 requests can wait for an answer at the same time.
  • Your share of each paid extra is transferred with the booking when the customer approves the job, and shows on your monthly statement.

Never take cash for extra work

Payments outside HomeHero aren't covered by payment protection or damage cover, and asking for them breaks the house rules.
