Why do Heroes need to give business and tax details?
EU rules require marketplaces to know who offers services, tell customers if you're a professional, and report earnings for tax.
Before you send your first offer or list a service, we ask for your seller details in Business & tax details. Three EU rules require this:
- Digital Services Act — marketplaces must know the professionals (traders) who offer services: name, address, contact details, registration number and a declaration that you follow the law.
- Consumer law — customers must be told whether you offer services as a professional or as a private individual, because their consumer rights depend on it.
- DAC7 (tax) — platforms report what each seller earns to the tax authority once a year. We report to the Malta tax authority.
Professional or private?
Choose professional (trader) if you do this as your trade, business or profession — for example if you're self-employed, a sole trader or a company, advertise your services or work regularly for money. Choose private individual only for occasional help that isn't a business. Choosing honestly is your legal responsibility.
What customers see
- Professionals: your legal name, trading name, registration and VAT number and town on your profile; your address, business email and phone once they've booked you.
- Private individuals: only that you offer help privately.
Your tax number and date of birth are never shown to anyone except HomeHero staff and, in our yearly DAC7 report, the tax authority.
